REGULAR ONSITE VOLUNTEERS POSITIONS (2 shifts /14 hrs minimum)
Here is a basic overview of what volunteering at the Children’s Festival entails. When you fill out your online application form, you will find more detailed descriptions of the areas you can work in. The main requirements for volunteering are simply to be willing, curious, and reliable. Just show up!
You won’t be asked to do anything you’re not capable of, and there will always be staff and senior volunteers to guide and support you. You will be assigned to a Festival area and will report to your Crew Captain or Activity Coordinator for further details of what your role entails for the shift. Never be afraid to ask questions.
There are lots of different volunteer positions available, so choose the category that most suits your personality, interests, or career direction. For example:
If you like working with children and are artistic or enjoy crafts or working with your hands, CRAFT ACTIVITIES might suit you well. You will assist the Activity Coordinator to help children do the crafts, as well as direct people, set up activities, and keep the space tidy and clean. This is a busy and fast-paced environment.

If you prefer to work with adults and like to move around, SITE CREW SUPPORT might be best for you. This includes site maintenance, parking, and gate control, and parking. If you are assigned to You must be fluent in English, and if you are helping with Parking, you must be comfortable learning how to use a radio. Additional tasks include: set up and teardown, security, site monitoring, and performer services
If you’re outgoing and enjoy meeting people, FESTIVAL FRONT LINE positions include Info Tent, Merchandise Sales, Wristbanding and Gate positions. You are the first point of contact when Festival guests arrive on site. The teachers, parents and children will be excited to attend the Festival and your role is to be helpful and friendly to our guests.
If you’d rather work more quietly behind the scenes, you can help out in FESTIVAL ADMINISTRATION, the VOLUNTEER CENTRE, HOSPITALITY or FOOD PREP
Finally, if you are easy-going and up for anything — sign up for FLOATERS (ANYTHING GOES), and we will place you in an area that needs the most assistance that day. It can range from crew support, to tent activities, to admin, to parking.
