We hope you had an unforgettable time at this year’s Vancouver International Children’s Festival!

As the summer season kicks off, we’re excited to keep the fun going with a list of summer happenings around the city. We’ve got you covered with a fantastic lineup of things to do for the whole family:

indigenous people’s day

June is Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous People’s Day is on June 21st.

Come take part in the 11 am Celebration Walk, starting at Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre Society (1719 Franklin Street), and head to Grandview Park for the cultural performances and the Indigenous Market.

EAST SIDE PRIDE

Celebrate Pride Season on June 22nd at East Side Pride!

Head to Grandview Park from 12 pm to 7 pm for a fun-filled day of free, all-ages programming! Enjoy live concerts, drag performances, comedy and musical showcases and showcases. 

Indulge in delicious eats from food trucks and a BBQ by SAIGE Community Food Bank. Explore the artisan market with 45+ vendors and join fun activities by the Parks Board Queer Inclusion Team. Our Community Bikes will also be on-site to provide everything you need to fix your bicycles. 

East Side Pride is an opportunity to embrace diversity and foster community in this vital Vancouver neighbourhood.

Filipino Heritage Month

June is also Filipino Heritage Month and what better way to celebrate than by heading to the 2nd annual Pinoy Festival — the largest gathering of Filipino Canadians in Burnaby!

Enjoy cultural performances, traditional dances, art exhibitions, and live “rak en roll” bands. Indulge in delicious BBQ, and sip on refreshing drinks in the music garden. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Canada Together

Come down to Canada Place for the 38th annual Canada Day celebration! 

Canada Together has been planned collaboratively with representatives from the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. From programming to the name and theme itself, the details of the day were carefully considered to create a welcoming experience for all people who live in this country.

Theatre under the stars

Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) presents its explosive 2024 season, featuring CATS and School of Rock, on stage July 5 — August 24, 2024, at Stanley Park’s majestic Malkin Bowl.

From one of the longest-running musicals of all time to a feel-good tribute to rock ‘n roll, TUTS invites audiences to dream big, live boldly, and rock out into the night this summer season. A beloved Vancouver tradition since 1940, TUTS’ Early Bird tickets are on sale May 23 — June 19. Presented by REMAX.

Disney’s frozen the musical

The hit Broadway musical Frozen is coming to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from July 9 – July 21, 2024!

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival returns for its 47th fabulous year, July 19 — 21, 2024 at Jericho Beach Park! Come for a weekend of discovery with over 40 acts from around the globe playing music for every age.

The Little Folks Village welcomes kids and families to a perfect corner of the site, with performances, activities, Redbird, Nylon Zoo, the Creation Station and more on tap. Kids 12 and under are free!

The 2024 artist roster includes Juno-winning singer, Jeremy Dutcher (QC), the powerful voice of Ukraine’s, Krut, harmonic duo The Milk Carton Kids, New Zealand’s Māmā Mihirangi & the Māreikura, desert blues from Etran de L’Aïr (Niger) – just to name a few.
